Night Market (City Series)

@GirlontheProwl here…So I went to this local event that’s going on called the Surrey Night Market and as it were, it was the first time this event was being held in this particular city. For those of you who don’t know what a night market is it’s basically a bunch of vendors who pitch tents where you can go around buying food or whatever. They also do a talent showcase type thing…so basically it’s a glorified farmer’s market… without the fruit…and without the farmers! Anyway, I went with my siblings to check out this new place expecting it to be spectacular from all the reviews, but it lacked the luster I am used to. I guess the night market in Richmond has ruined me. I mean, there was food, and there were performances, but it was lacking in the merchant tents—and on top of it all we managed to circle the whole place in about ten minutes. There were so few places to buy cool trinkets or gadgets—and I know I probably wouldn’t have bought anything anyway, but hey, I still like to look!. Anyway I was disappointed, but I still managed to have a good time and I guess that’s what counts.

Here are what I found to be the market’s best food stalls:

One or Two’s Waffle Bar: They had these amazing gourmet waffles that tasted freaking amazing. The one I tried was called the Cinnamon Waffle with Bourbon Cream—best dessert ever. We pretty much attacked this one like vultures the minute we got it. They also have really good customer service—the guy at the counter told us to make sure we “come again” after witnessing our pig-out. Seriously though, A MUST EAT.

Bubble Tea Panda: They had Milk Tea, Black Tea, and Slush. I had a Mango Slush without the pearls (not a fan of pearls, but most people like it) and it tasted just like real fruit. Definitely a drink that should make it onto your list.

Big Red’s Poutine: Best fries you’ll have. We went classic and had plain old fries and ketchup, but if I wasn’t full I would have gone for the classic Montreal Poutine (Fries, Gravy, and Cheese Curds).

As for entertainment, we came across a really cool band called Souls Rest. They were just a couple of guys who knew how to perform live. They’re definitely worth checking out especially if you’re into that jazzy/ hip-hop/rap vibe. Here’s a little sample of what they can do:

If you like what you heard I will post a link to their twitter and website down below.

Anyway, if you’ve got nothing to do on a Saturday night then I recommend grabbing a couple of friends and checking the place out—especially if all you’re looking for is food and entertainment.

-Cheers
