@GirlontheProwl here and I have something I need to get off my mind. I started a show this fall called Red Band Society… and you know, I figured if the show had Dave Annable in it then, okay, it was probably worth checking out… So I did, and while my reasoning for watching it was shallow and convoluted, what I found was something more than that. The show isn’t just about sick kids and it isn’t just about hot doctors. It draws on the concerns that many teens, and sometimes event adults, have growing up and addresses them—love, drugs, alcohol, money, family, friends. It takes really bad situations and offers viewers a little bit of hope. I know I’m no doctor, and that this may not be as “realistic” as some people think it should be, but it’s creative fiction. Nowhere is it written that in a fictional world, a group of kids—a band of brothers—can’t be sick and live their lives while terrorizing a hospital. I mean, wasn’t it Aristotle who said “hope is a waking dream”?
